James Owen invariably finds a way to improve horses from other yards and CHILLHI looks worth another chance in a change of headgear (stable have excellent record with horses in a first-time visor). 2022 and 2023 winner Dereham has fallen in the weights and made a positive reappearance when runner-up at Yarmouth last month, he's feared most ahead of Dalton Park who could be open to improvement now stepping up in distance.

Second in a selling hurdle on final run for Brian Ellison and very well backed on stable debut when third in a 12f Wolverhampton handicap (needed greater stamina test). Disappointed over hurdles 5 days ago but steps up in trip back on the Flat and looks worth another chance in a first-time visor.

Some promise in qualifying runs on all-weather and far from disgraced on handicap/turf debut over 1½m at Newbury last month when not ideally positioned and still showing signs of inexperience. Could have more to offer now stepped up in trip.

Shaped like a stayer when making little impact in maidens for William Haggas and has proved disappointing over hurdles for current connections. Will need to improve for the longer trip on Flat handicap debut.

Has won this race twice and having fallen in the weights was well suited by a strongly-run 14f when runner-up at Yarmouth on return last month. One to consider back over 2m.

Some promise returned to the Flat when staying on over 14f at Salisbury last month and took a step forward upped in trip when runner-up at Bath (17.1f) 12 days ago, doing best work at finish having looked a shade reluctant early on. Respected with David Probert taking over from a conditional.

All wins have come on the all-weather, as good as ever back in blinkers when landing a 9-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (16.6f) 10 days ago. Yet to prove as effective on turf and this looks tougher under a 5 lb penalty.

    Verdict
Creditable efforts when placed in 14f turf handicaps last season and has been in good heart on the all-weather in recent months, winner on penultimate start at Wolverhampton (14f). Not seen to best effect over in a slowly run race over the same C&D latest and could be competitive back on turf.
